Carmel...the land of amazing food

After San Francisco we went to Carmel and the Big Sur. Oh. my. goodness. We absolutely fell IN LOVE with both of these places. Mike and I can honestly say that we ate the best meals of our lives in Carmel. This town is incredibly charming and there are dogs EVERYWHERE... which is great. Next time we come we will bring Doris (our dog).

If you love Doris Day, like I do, check out the hotel that she owned (owns?).

Clint Eastwood is actually a past mayor of Carmel. I like to imagine he hung out here on a few occasions.

We ate lunch at Dametra Cafe, a Mediterranean restaurant. It was amazing! The flavors and size portions are incredible. It is a little on the pricier side (if you're a Utahn) but well worth it. It was so delicious.

Then, i'll be honest, we ate at the Carmel Bakery at least 5 times in one day. It is the most delicious bakery I have ever been to. Their coconut macaroons are TO.DIE.FOR. I think I ate about 10 of these. Everything we ate here is incredible. You must go.

We ate dinner at another incredible place, Club Jalapeno. We really hit the jackpot with food because we were so stuffed after this day. This was perhaps one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. I can't even begin to describe how yummy the flavors of the sauces were. It is a very small restaurant but the service and food were both incredible. I wish I would have taken a picture of this place, but I was probably too full that I was in a food coma and forgot.

BIG SUR

I didn't know about Big Sur until we were on our road trip but this was a really beautiful drive and destination. It is right on the coast so the drive is breathtaking and we passed over several incredible bridges.
